I completed my MBCHB at Stellenbosch University in 1998 and passed the MMED in Paediatrics (University of Stellenbosch) and FCP from the Colleges for Medicine of South Africa in 2004.

In 2012 I completed the 2 year subspecialty training in Developmental Paediatrics at Tygerberg Hospital and obtained the Certificate of Developmental Paediatrics.

Additional training:

• Griffiths Mental Development Scales Extended Revised and Griffiths III Mental Development Scales Neurodevelopmental testing.
• ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule): This is used as a specialist diagnostic instrument in the assessment and diagnosis of possible autism or other pervasive developmental disorders in children.
• ADHD competency course presented by Prof Andre Venter.
• DISCO (Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders) This is a detailed, semi-structured interview used to collect information concerning all aspects of an individual’s skills, deficits and untypical behaviour.

From 2012 to 2015 I held a sessional post as a subspecialist at the Developmental Clinic at Tygerberg Children’s Hospital Paediatrics Outpatient Department.  The Developmental Clinic runs in close liaison with the Paediatric Neurology Clinic and I gained valuable experience in management of a wide range of Developmental and Neurological conditions.

In 2012 I started a part time private practice in Paarl as a Developmental Paediatrician and since 2016 have decided to pursue this full time.
